Putin has managed to cripple both Ukraine and his own Russia. There is no victory here. Stalin had at least that an ideology he was fighting for in HIS slaughter of innocents. Putin doesn't even have that.

A tragedy made by one man.

The upside is that Ukrainians are fighting like hell and are enduring. Also that democracy has received an enormous booster shot and that Xi Jinping and China may be inclined to rethink both their relationship with America and the West and the danger of one man holding too much power.
