Europe will make itself poorer by resuscitating industries that are no longer competitive.

The EU would benefit enormously by shifting to a more open market, where the countries become more like states.

Curiously, the swing to the right can work in this direction. While Europe becomes more protectionist toward the outside world (not especially a good thing), it can lower barriers within, which would be beneficial.
