Adebayo,
Housing is an enormous concern in the UK (and in America), and it is a choker block with inequities, unfairness, inefficiencies, vested interests, and gross distortions.
A starting point in America is to fade out all subsidies for home ownership -- reduced mortgage rates, tax credits, etc. This would place renting and ownership on par and reduce the choice to a financial mechanism, as with autos.
The current way we build housing is unbelievably inefficient and costly. Housing (or, better, living space) should be made in factories (Mexico perhaps?) and delivered by Amazon.
This has already been done (without Amazon) to an extent. Still, it is handicapped because it targets the low end of the market (mobile homes), which offers no aspirational benefits to the middle class.
Tesla (with our friend Elon Musk) brought about rapid change by targeting the upper market. It certainly helped the EVs be sexy and desirable, which could similarly be achieved with manufacturing and selling "living space."
Prince William's expression of concern need not be snubbed, even though it is limited. He could initiate a competition for designers of modern living spaces, giving the change royal approval.
The British Monarchy is a breadwinner and nullifies the reasons for its demise on economic grounds.
Always best to you.
